We used the Internet of Tangible Things toolkit to describe our Whetherbird. The toolkit comprises attributes of IoT devices and the possible interaction between them and other devices as well as their users.
IoT Day Germany 2019: Ideation of Things
On April, 9th there was – again – the international IoT Day. As we are interested in coming up with new ideas surrounding the Internet of Things, we held a workshop centered on the topic of Ideation. Reading about tools is very different to trying them out, as shortcomings emerge for people not familiar with an Ideation tool.
Our personal focus was how we could improve our Loaded Dice tool with a card-based component. This component should clue in lay users and help them focus on problems, hardships and challenges they encounter in their everyday life that could be improved and alleviated by the IoT.
At the workshop we used the following tools for various purposes and to get a feeling for it.
- “A Guide to Succeeding in the IoT” Toolkit
- Internet of Tangible Things Toolkit
- Microsoft Product Reaction Cards (Desireability Toolkit)

Here, we try to describe our Laoded Dice using the Microsoft Product Reaction Cards toolkit.
